After a longer hiatus I restarted my House Brax unit. Here is a new Billman for the unit:

I will finish the rest of the figures over the next few days . After that I will come back to my halfmen army. You can see the other figures in the unit here: Flement Brax , Crossbowman  1 , Billman , Banner bearer , another crossbowman , Crossbowman 3  , another billman and at last jet another Crossbowman.

Ass Hauer the leader of the halfmen militia unit

I finished the first miniature from the Westfalia halfmen kickstarter  ( You can see the unpainted miniature here). The figure of a famous old warrior who fought many battles against the yellow Kobolds of Dort-Mund. In these battles he lost an eye and a leg but he still wants to get back into the fight. Here is the finished Ass Hauer:

Next will be the members of his unit. The figures are very well sculpted and a treat to paint! I am looking forward to painting all the other miniatures. Well done Westfalia Miniatures !!!

Frostgrave news: Forgotten Pacts

img_9520

There will be a new Nickstarter for Frostgrave starting on Monday next week called Forgotten pacts and it will include a new plastic boxed set of Barbarians. Here are pictures of the box art and of some of the figures ( As far as I can tell the figures are metal ones not from the box.

These figures cry Wildlings in the GoT setting to me ! So definitely a box I have to get my fingers on! I found another figure you can get from Northstar. Looks like Brienne of Tarth to me:

The Barbarians should be available in November.

Glover versus Lannister the first battle on the refurbished terrain!

The other day we had a small Dragon Rampant battle between the House Glover and House Lannister over a bridge crossing one of the tributaries of the Trident. Here is the deployment:

The Glovers racing for the bridge

Lannister heavy knights, lead by “The Hound” Sandor Clegane, contesting the crossing.

The House Glover mesnie.

Jaime Lannister overlooking the River.

The Lannister battle.

Sorry no more pictures, as we got carried away while gaming! It was a Lannister victory.

The first halfmen unit

I started work on the first unit of my halfmen army . It is a militia unit. The unit is supposed to be made up of farmers living around the town of Gelsen-Kirchen. A town famous for its church  ( Kirche means church in german). It is lead by a very famous old warrior who fought many battles against the yellow Kobolds of Dort-Mund. In these battles he lost an eye and a leg but he still wants to get back into the fight.                            His name is Ass Hauer :

I started painting them yesterday so not much progress to be shown here. I will post new pictures as soon as I finished the first figures.

The Westfalia kickstarter miniatures arrived!!!!!

fullsizerender

The Halfmen from Westfalia Miniatures arrived the other day!!! Thank you Kawe the figures are little gems indeed! As you can see above my kickstarter order was quite large. I will build a Dragon Rampant army with 9 units. 1 spear armed one , 1 helebard armed one, one peasant one , one bow unit, one goat rider unit, the paymaster on giant, a mixed spear and bow unit, a sorcerer with acolyte , and Dietrich von Schalke the army general. So a lot to paint and glue. This project will take me through the winter month and then right on time for the next GoT season I will do more of the human type of fantasy figures!

So here are the figures I got:

New stamps for representing stones on Styrodure and a template for roman doors and windows.

I got two stamps for texturing walls from MiniWorlds a italian company and a template for roman doors and windows. The two wall texturing stamps are only two examples there are many more on their web page.

Here is the first one: The MT 009 San marino type

This stamp is to be placed on a piece of Styrodure and pressed into it to imprint the stone layout into the Styrodure. You will get this:

Depending on the stability of the Styrodure, there are different grades of toughness, you might need a hammer to make this work ( like shown on the companies website. It took less then 5 minutes to do this. Doing the engraving by hand would take considerably longer.

Next up is the MT013 Siviglia type:

This is what you get after using :

Both stamps can be joint to produce bigger ares of stone on the Styrodure , just align them properly.

What I got too is a product called minimask. A stencil template to do roman arched windows and doors . Also from MiniWorlds. You use this to draw window and doors onto the Styrodure to cut them out later. One word of warning though the one I got was very fragile.

This is MM001 roman arches:

Excuse the bad picture . Better ones are on the companies website .

When you place them on the Styrodur you van use the one cm lines on the template to align them properly.

Here is what you get when you use both devices :

And together with the other template:

All in all a very good product . Recommended but using a hammer is necessary.

I will use these to build some buildings in the future so watch this space.

The Glover Knights banner bearer

This is the Glover Knight unit banner bearer. I designed the banner differently from my other banners this time. In the books the banners of the sworn Houses are always or at least very often described as showing the Sigil of the house they are sworn to above the own house sigil. Here it is House Stark above House Glover. This makes for a bit of variety on the field of battle later on.

FullSizeRender 3

The figure was build with parts from Perry and Fireforge . As can be seen here:

And more pictures of the knight:

And the complete unit (missing one knight, which is not painted yet):

And the complete House Glover mesnie ( – one knight)

And I somehow forgot to show you the House Brax mesnie as far as it is finished last time . So here are the pictures:

Hope you like what you see ! If so feel free to leave a like or a comment

The next House Brax Crossbowman

The next crossbowman, again build from the Perry french HyW Box.

When I finish this unit, another 5 figures to do, I will start to work on my terrain tiles. I got these a few years back from TSS. These are a good start for a terrain system but I would like to have them more realistically finished . I would like to add reeds to the river section , make the water in the river and ponds more realistic and add more gravel here and there . Then I will add some new sections to the river like a little harbor a watermill and I want to do a few tiles for a village or small town. After that of course I will have to do some more buildings.

So you see after my summer holiday there will be a prolonged time of terrain building first and of course when the Westfalia halfmen army arrives at my doorstep I will paint those too. So a lot to do for the coming month!
