I preordered the Cruel Seas game at this years Crisis in Antwerp. it is a game depicting small boat action in coastal waters. The game is by Warlord Games.
“In Cruel Seas, you take on the role of a naval crew manning their fragile coastal craft as they head out day and night to take on both the sea and the enemy. Command your flotilla of small ships as they head out to attack a convoy, drop off Commandoes for a behind-the-lines mission or task them with one of the other myriads of missions this small and versatile craft would perform.
Be it the Coastal waters of England or across the Channel to France, on to the Mediterranean waters or on further to the vast Island chains of the Pacific, Cruel Seas will ensure your small ships see plenty of adrenaline-fuelled action.
Cruel Seas is a 1/300th scale tabletop miniatures game where you command flotillas of small ships in battle. Action in the game is fast-paced – with six or more ships per side, a thrilling seaborne dogfight can be fought in forty-five minutes or less.” According to Warlord Games.
Here is a video about the game mechanics :
And an interview with John Stallard about the development of the game:
As soon as I have the game at home i will do an unboxing here on wargamesgazette!
Some pictures nicked of the homepage of Warlord Games :
How to build the boats:
I just got these in the post:
It is a box of 20 hardplasic miniatures in 28mm scale. These are soldiers ,too like the figures in the older Frostgrave soldiers box but these are female warriors instead of the usual male ones.
Here is the back of the box:
In the box you will find the following sprue with 5 female warriors. There are 4 identical sprues in the box:
front
back
As you can see the bodies are much slimmer then the male ones and they are dressed in a believable way not in chainmail bikinis ! You can build 3 firing figures ( two with bowes one with crossbow) or 5 close combat fighters with spear sword axe or knife. There are enough parts like cloak, backpack and other equipment to build a wide selection of different figures.
Very recommended especially together with the Soldiers ! box ( male soldiers) as they seem to be interchangeable .
I will use them in my Warhammer 40000 setting and arm them with lasguns as militia .
