Avenger next step

The next step was to mask of all areas on the model which have to stay grey, as the next painting step is to airbrush all parts which get another color, like the wings , fuselage and wingtips.

The wings will be dark blue as that is the main color of my sons adeptus mechanicus army as will the fuselage. The wing tips will be red as a squadron designation ( like in Star Wars red I or redII etc).

This afternoon I will unmask the complete model again and begin to paint the engines and all the other detail like Guns and rockets. After that filtering and weathering will commence .

Avenger Strike Fighter

I started painting an Avenger Strike Fighter for my Son. He does’t like to paint with an airbrush so I have to do that for him. He started to paint the model a while ago by base coating it black. Now it has collected so much dust that I had to clean it first.

On to the model:

The Avenger is a dedicated strike fighter, intended to conduct high-speed, low-level attacks on ground targets, with armoured vehicle formations and high-value strategic assets such as munitions dumps forming its principal prey. The Avenger Strike Fighter boasts firepower that exceeds most other Imperial aircraft of its size, and its particular reputation as a tank-killer is due to the Avenger bolt cannon it carries.

I have to paint it so that it fits to my sons Adeptus Mechanicus army. Pictures of the army will follow once the Avenger is completed.

Here are pictures showing the masking of the cockpit windows:

On the right picture you can see how I applied the masking tape. I cut the shape of the window out of the masking Tape with a very sharp scalpel blade fig. 11.

The first step was then applying a black new undercoat after dusting the model:

In the pictures the undercoat isn’t dry yet but you can see at the tail of the plane that it will be matt after drying.

Next step was to apply primary highlights by applying white to the parts which have to be highlighted later. I forgot to take a picture of the top side of the Avenger sorry:

After drying time I applied a very thin coat of Vallejo neutral grey ( the base color of the plane):

Thats all I did for now. I will show more when I did a little bit more work on it.

Grey Wind

Grey Wind is a dire wolf bonded to Robb Stark.                                                                      He is the litter-mate of Lady, Nymeria, Summer, Shaggydog, and Ghost. Grey Wind is discovered along with his litter mates by Robb Stark and Jon Snow after the dire wolves mother has been killed by a stag. Like the other dire wolves, Grey Wind forms a special bond with his master. Like Robb, Grey Wind grows bold and faithful. Robb names him Grey Wind due to his fast speed when running.

Grey Wind follows Robb around Winterfell and sits at his feet when he holds court. When Greatjon Umber menaces Robb during a meeting, Grey Wind bites two of the lord’s fingers off, helping Robb gain the respect of Umber and other Stark banner men.

During the War of the Five Kings, Grey Wind follows Robb into battle and adds significantly to Robb’s fearsome reputation. At the Battle of the Whispering Wood, Grey Wind kills several men.

I painted this new figure because I think my old model doesn’t look menacing enough and  doesn’t represent Grey Wind like he should be. Furthermore I didn’t like the way I painted him.

Here are some more pictures of the new Grey Wind Miniature, by the way the grass tufts I used were made with the flock box I got for xmas :

The men at arms have pole arms, hand weapons and cut-down lances/spears. The components of this set can also be mixed with the English Army boxed set (AO 40). Although the men at arms are specifically designed for the 1415-29 period, the infantry could be used for the 1390’s through to the 1430’s/40s.

They can actually be used for any Western European Army of this period as similar fashions in armour and clothing stretched across Europe at this time. The figures are armed with polearms, hand weapons and cut-down lances/spears. All the figures are wearing plate armour, half of which are covered in coat armour .

Orcs and the “gamefication” of Middle Earth

I found this article on Lead adventure forum. Very interesting to read !!!! Recommended .

“A few thoughts occurred to me while assembling some Tolkien-appropriate orcish forces for SoBH and DR games. This very interesting blog post by Zhu Baijie catalysed them somewhat (I commented as JC). As many of us are keen on gaming in Middle Earth, I thought these might – perhaps – be of interest. On the other hand, it just might see like a completely insane post!

My main contention is that gamers have, over the decades, tended to distort the descriptions contained in Tolkien’s writings and that these distortions have become quite deeply embedded in RPG and wargaming rules and publications. I think this “gamefication” also had an impact on Peter Jackson’s films (I wouldn’t be at all surprised if WETA had a hefty population of current or former gamers). Here are some examples:”

The release date for BOTH Agincourt sets is late February, however it might be a bit earlier.

The sets are Agincourt French Infantry 1415-29 and Agincourt Foot Knights 1415-29.

hundrednew3

Above are samples from the Agincourt French men at arms frame just in.
There will be one of these frames (6 figures) in the Agincourt French Infantry box set along with 3 French Infantry frames shown previously. In all 42 figures.

For the Agincourt Foot Knights set there will be 3 French men at arms frames and 3 English men at arms frames (previously released with the Agincourt English Army set) in the box. In all 36 figures.

Renedra, who are always up for a challenge have done it again with the fine details on visors and weapons etc. on this frame.

All three sets (including the English Army set) have interchangeable parts allowing an enormous choice of individual figures to be created by the customer.
There are more pictures on the Perry site! And on there Facebook page
