The dark age archers by Gripping Beast

IMG_3394This is the latest addition to my collection. The dark age archers boxed set by Gripping beast . There are 30 figures in the box . 3 figures on one sprue, 10 identical sprues. Here is a picture of the sprue back:

IMG_3392and front:

IMG_3391As you can see these are complete figures except for the head . So not much for scratchbuilders but if you want a lot of archers all losing an arrow this is the box for you . The heads are quite nice all bare headed so can be used for all kind of figures you can use them for the dark age warriors box by GB and vice versa .

Hope that helps in deciding to get a box or not . One last word though the right arms are not in a correct archers stance but thats only recognisable  for people who do some archery themselfs.

Next parcel in the post will be the Scandinavian  Infantry plastic boxed set by Fireforge .

Very good tutorial on Painting Skin

While I was surfing the internet I found a very good easy to follow tutorial on painting faces and hands. I was looking for this kind of tutorial as I want to change my method of painting skin. The tutorial is by Wargames , Soldiers and Strategy and can be found on you tube, or below for your convenience.

Hope you find it as useful as I did. I will ad more of these videos when I find others on the net , which might be useful to you and me.

The third Wildling archer

Here is the third Wildling archer. As I couldn’t go to Salute last weekend I used my time to paint up the third figure of my Wildling archer unit.

This is another strait build from the Frostgrave Barbarian plastic box.

Another Wildling Archer

This time a build only with parts from the Barbarian box. The pictures are taken with a diffuser on my lights I think this gives better quality pictures.

More to come in the near future.

The first figure of my Wildling Army

So with Easter out of the way and after a longer brake in painting Game of Thrones related figures, the Westfalia halfmen got in the way, here is the first figure of my Wildling bow unit for Dragon Rampant. The figure is a Northstar Barbarian figure.

The figure is kit bashed with a body and head from the Frostgrave Barbarian set, Arms from the Frostgrave warriors set, and arrows from a Perry war of the roses set.

More to come in the next days. This unit comprises 12 figures.

The complete Halfmen army so far

Here are pictures of my completed halfmen army. There are a few more units like the army standard bearer, and a few more knights on goats etc. I will add these at a later point as I started to build my Wildling army for Got for a brake.
