Gunny Sergeant Frank Thomas
This US Marine figure is Gunny Sergeant Frank Thomas who carried the Stars and Stripes in Hue and is seen getting it from inside his flak jacket. I painted the figure a bit different. The flag he is getting out of his flack jacket is painted to represent a map so the figure could be used in different settings ,too.

I painted up a special figure the other day. Dale Dye who became famous for his work in Hollywood epics such as Platoon, Saving Private Ryan, Band of Brothers and Last of the Mohicans etc. See the camera and the attached film boxes round his neck and the cigarette in his left hand. Figure by Empress Miniatures Sculpted by Paul Hicks.
Water buffalo
Vietnam landscape without water buffalo ? As these animals can be found almost everywhere in Vietnam I needed some for my Vietnam war gaming table. The standing ones are from Empress miniatures the resting ones are 3D printed as is the chicken.
There will be more animals in the future dogs, pigs etc.

M79 Blooper gunner
Good Morning. So the Salute weekend is gone by without Salute… more time for painting though. I painted up this blooper gunner from Empress. Very nice sculpt by Paul Hicks.
It was a joy to paint.

Salute 2020
There will be no Salute 2020 report like you were used to for Salute 19, Salute 18, Salute 17etc. Because there is no Salute this year due to Covid 19 / Corona. So what else can I do? I will show you pictures of the last years Salutes instead . I know it is no real substitute, as there is no such thing as a substitute for the show the South London Warlords bring on for us each year.
Hopefully we will have a new Salute in 2021 and will be able to meet old and new friends again.

So missing the show, my friends and London in general this year…. Roll on 2021 hopefully without a pandemic like we have this year. Let us remember the friends and wargamers, figure collectors, painters, terrain modelers who we lost to COVID 19 may they rest in peace. We will never forget them!

M60 gunner
As it is beginning to get boring only to paint NVA, I still have a lot to do, I sprinkle in the occasional US Marine. So today a Marine with a “pig” (M60).
