Tyrion Lannister

A few years back ( I think in 2013) my son converted a Tyrion Lannister out of Perry plastic parts and modeling putty. He gave the figure to me for painting as he himself didn’t want to paint him . Now I will start painting the figure shortly and I thought to show you some pictures of the unpainted figure first . To show how the conversion was done.

Here you see that he shortened the arms and sculpted new hands. The legs were built up out of modeling putty and wire . The hair was sculpted on.

Halfmen by Westfalia Miniatures

I got some pre production halfmen by Westfalia Miniatures in the post yesterday.  They are very nice miniatures very crisply cast in a very sturdy resin. Read what Westfalia Miniatures says about the new range of fantasy miniatures here.

Here are the pictures of the minis I got:

First a group shot:

all

next up a comparison with a Perry bowman. I think they fit quite nicely.

all with Perry

And here are the pictures of the single figures:

I will see how they paint up and post pictures here then. They are already basecoated. The figures will be avalable according to Westfalia Miniatures in December probably as a kickstarter.

A game of Imperial Assault

game1

My son is a huge fan of Star Wars. So we had a couple of games of Imperial Assault. I must say it is a game system which is very easy to learn and gives a very star wars like feel while playing.

We played leave no evidence as a single scenario not as a campaign setting and had great fun.

Sadly I have to admit that the evil empire won . Don”t ask which side I played ! It is to embarrassing !

Frostgrave into the breading pits (coming June 2016)

frost into

With this new supplement for Frostgrave, players can lead their warbands into the vast network of catacombs, sewers, and dungeons that run underneath the Frozen City. It was in these dark confines that the ancient wizards known as Beastcrafters experimented on living creatures, creating strange hybrids and deadly monsters, many of which still roam the forgotten passageways. Along with a host of new scenarios, treasures, soldiers, and creatures, the book also contains rules for the traps and secret passages that are often found in the dungeons. With the wonderful and rare magical treasures to be discovered, will players risk taking their warbands down into the Breeding Pits?

Tried out Lion Rampant

lionrampant1

Just tried out the Lion Rampant rules by Daniel Mersey with my son.

Lion Rampant is a set of simple miniature wargaming rules designed for fighting historical or Hollywood battles in the medieval period, from the rise of the Normans to the Hundred Years’ War and beyond. Beyond means for us we wanted to use it in a Game of Thrones  setting. It works a treat for that purpose I have to say. The reason for that is that there are no hard army lists in the rules . All in all the rules are very easy to learn and use and give a very neat game experience. Recommended for people wanting a quick game without a ton of lists and rules for every possible situation.

We are only waiting for this to incorporate the Targaryen Dragons!
