The Tactica 2018 which was held on the 24th and 25th of Feb. 2018 in Hamburg Wilhelmsburg is over. Another great event with lots of familiar and new faces. There were really good demo and participation games as well as a lot of traders. As the venue is quite small, everything that would possibly fit in was crammed into it. The parking was a problem again as every year  as the venue car park is just to small. But as far as I know it would be a financial hazard to go to another venue as all other bigger ones are really big ones and therefore quite expensive. Anyhow another splendid show gone by, I will be back next year definitely.

Hamburg Tactica 2018

There are a lot of collectors of miniatures and wargamers of many systems in the north of Germany, but no specialized events to promote our models, exchange experiences or bring up new ideas, except the Hamburg Tactica , which takes place on the weekend of the 24th and 25th of February 2018, again.

Hosted by the Wargaming Club Hamburg, the convention in the Bürgerhaus Wilhelmsburg is  a gathering point for local, national and international collectors and wargamers.

It is the goal of the Wargaming Club Hamburg to support popular gaming systems by playing tournaments and demonstration games and promote new systems.

Fantasy and SciFi as well as historical gaming systems in all scales are welcome.

The concept of their demonstrations is „Come & Play“. Their exhibitors are happy to explain rules and tactics and visitors are welcome to join the gaming – they can even bring their own miniatures to take part in a game.Hamburg

Entrance Fee:
€ 7.- on Saturday,
€ 5.- on Sunday / € 10.- for both days
(Children under 10 years of age don’t have to pay fee)

Special miniature of the Hamburger Tactica 2018: Heinrich Barth

This year, the TACTICA figure follows the theme room into the desert. We present Heinrich Barth, the famous Hamburg Sahara explorer.

In 1849, Barth set out with a British expedition that would take him across the Sahara. The journey took him over Ghat, the foothills of the Tassili n’Ajjer and the Hoggar Mountains to Tintellust in the Aïr Mountains. From there we went to Agadez in Niger and finally to Timbuktu. After many adventures, including battles with predatory Tuareg, he returned home in 1855. Unfortunately, his travels are still shadowed unfairly by other big names, because Barth did not know how to market his discoveries. Nevertheless, Heinrich Barth is one of the great explorers of Africa in the 19th century.

As always, our 28mm figure was modeled by Frank Germershaus.

I will be at the Tactica on the 24th (Saturday) and I will take a lot of pictures so expect a photo report after the event.

Kiepen Con 2018

I have been to the Kiepen Con in Münster Germany yesterday. a new convention now in its second year. Very nice little con with beautiful games and an x wing tournament. This year there were so many games that there was literally no space left for a bring and buy which they had last year. Here are pictures of the venue:

A very good little convention in the heart of the Münsterland . I am pleased we have a convention so near to my hometown now. I think maybe next time the venue should be a bit bigger to let a bring and buy be possible again. Maybe a few more traders would be nice. I will be definitely back next year.

These are the pictures I took at Crisis . It was a very nice show with a lot of traders and really many games . I enjoyed it immensely ! Role on Crisis 2018 .

Another year has gone by and the Crisis Convention in Antwerp isn’t far off anymore . I am really looking forward to the convention, which is the best miniature and wargaming convention in Europe (that is on the continent) . There is only one bigger one in London called Salute.  The Tin Soldiers of Antwerp always do a grand job on the day and in the months before to be able to present such a marvelous show. Cudos to you Tin Soldiers!

This years free miniature is Till Eulenspiegel, sculpted by my good friend Paul Hicks.

Intermodellbau 2017 Dortmund Germany

The Intermodellbau is a very big modeling convention held annually in the Westfahlenhalle in Dortmund. Arguably it is the biggest convention of its kind in Europe. You can see Miniature figures, plastic models, radio controlled models, Dioramas, railroad models etc. The complete convention center is used , that is 8 very big halls each more or less as big as Salute! Below you see a paper model of the convention center in 1/250 scale:

Thats it for this year . It was a great convention were all sorts of modeling stuff could be seen . I think it is nice sometimes to see what other people are doing in their spare time. The paper models are absolutely stunning and labors of love as there are hundreds of hours spend to build them.

Hamburg Tactica 2017

The Hamburg Tactica takes place from the 18th-19th of February 2017. The tactics is the biggest wargaming convention in Germany and is held at the Bürgerhaus Wilhelmsburg Mengestrasse 20 21107 Hamburg. Doors open on the Saturday at 10:00 until 8:00 in the evening and on the Sunday at 9:00 until 4:00 in the afternoon. More info here.

The Kiepe Convention in Münster Gievenbeck Germany

As I posted before I went to the Kiepe tabletop convention together with my son Fynn.

The convention was held in the La Vie youth club in Münster Gievenbeck a very airy well lid flight of rooms, as you can see here:

They had a bring and buy , a lot of participation games,  a x wing tournament and a bar.

And a Congo participation game were we took part. Objective of the game was to catch King Kong . This was to be prevented by the natives. It was great fun and the result was a draw.

All in all a very good little convention . We will be there again next year ! Maybe it would be nice to have some lokal traders at the con next year if possible. I know with such a little event it might not be worth for the traders to come but in a few years time if the convention grows ! Anyway very recommended if you want to try out an alternative rules system.

 

 

 

 

New tabletop convention in Münster Germany

On Sunday the 22nd of January there will be a new tabletop convention in Münster Germany.

The Kiepe will be at the “La Vie” in Münster Gievenbeck,  Dieckmannstrasse 127 , 48161 Münster. The convention will run from 10.00 – 6.00. There is no entrance fee and free parking. More on Facebook.

I will be there and do a foto report afterwards. Maybe  we can meet there !
