The Banner Bearer of the Glover mixed unit

This is the banner bearer of the unit. It is a Perry HYW body and a Perry mercenary pike arm. The shield is from Fireforge miniatures. The heraldry on the shield is a overpainted decal by Schildschmie.de. The banner is freehand. As the House Glover is a house affiliated with the House Stark  I painted the Stark sigil in the hoist of the banner and the Glover one behind. A little bit like the standards used in the WotR. In the books the banners are often discribed as flying above or below each other but I thought this concept is better.

Bank holiday in Germany

Today is a bank holiday in Germany. So I thought I might get in some painting time. I cracked out my trusty airbrush and started doing some horses for the next knights. I don’t like painting horses so I always do the basecoat  with an airbrush:

The building in the background are my sons so don’t ask me what he wants to do with them. As you can see the horses are a mixture of Perry and Fireforge plastic horses.

Next then was to get all the saddlery and drapings back in black. Took me almost an hour to do 6 horses.

And of course I did the highlights on the horses first. What is still missing are the manes and tails and the socks etc . Now on to the riders. I will do those as singles and not in a batch of 6.

More to follow.

hope you like him!

The first Glover warrior

This is the first Glover spear armed warrior. He is build from the French Perry HYW set. The shield is from Fire Forge. With these figures I went a different way concerning the heraldry. I used transfers from Schildschmie.de . But I painted over the transfer to blend it in with my other GoT figures. I am not sure if this approach is really better then to do them freehand like on my other figures.

Hope you like the figure ! Feel free to leave a comment !

House Glover!

I started doing a vassal house of the Starks of Winterfell to be able to field different armies in Dragon Rampant. It will be a mixed unit of Archers and billman.

House Glover is a noble house from the Wolfswood .The Wolfswood is a forest in the North of Westeros. It is located just north of Winterfell and extends for some three hundred miles north and west to the Bay of Ice. The Glovers are loyal vassals of House Stark of Winterfell, and have their seat at the wooden stronghold Deepwood Motte. Their lands extend throughout the Wolfswood, north-west of Winterfell. The head of the house is the Master of Deepwood Motte( a wooden motte-and-bailey castle) stronghold of House Glover. The castle is located north-west of Winterfell in the Wolfswood, near the coast of the Bay of Ice.

Here is Ser Gawen Glover heir of house Glover of deepwood motte:

He is one of Robb Starks hearth guard knights and leads the Glover household troops into battle. I painted him earlier, the heraldic design was painted freehand.
