Auxiliary Gunboat finished

IMG_1631

I finished the coastal freighter as a auxiliary Gunboat. The weapons are as always from the Warlord and Heroic & Pos weapons sets. VP 1037 is a Vorpostenboot as it was very often used in the channel , north sea and the baltic during the second WW. It was used for escort duties for small convoys , or for escorting U boats back to base through the biscay sea.

MS Louisa as an auxiliary gunboat

Auxiliary gunboats were used by the germans during WWII in a great variety . This is the MS Louisa converted into such a vessel . These vessels were used for security and convoy support.

I haven’t thought about the armament jet, but you could definitely mount a 88 mm gun in the central position and 37mm or double 20mm guns fore and aft and an additional 20mm on top of the wheelhouse . I will put some Warlord weapons on it when i did the mould.

MS Louisa ready for painting

I did the mould and cast the first examples of the MS Louisa coastal freighter / collier.

I did three different ones.

More pictures when I finished painting them up. Next version will be a gun carrier.

S.S. König

This is the start of a steam ship liner. It is a generic ship and based on a lot of contemporary pictures.

IMG_0311

I wanted to reuse the hull of the S.S. Bellota to safe me from doing a new hull and mould. should be more cost-effective this way. As you can see I work with o core of extruded polystyrene clad with paper for detailing. When you paint that later on with a diluted PVA it gets rock solid.

Here are a few more pictures:

Ships for sale

Because of popular demand I generated a page for purchasing my ships.  Just bear in mind that the ships are meant for wargaming! These are no scale models intended to win building championships with! Just follow the link 1/300 ships for sale .

MS Louisa small coastal collier

The paper model of the Hunt class destroyer i used to build my resin version from came with a little coastal frighter. A motor ship running with a Diesel engine. As I had a bit of time in between bigger projects I decided to build that model in 6mm for Cruel Seas ,too.

Here are the pictures of the nearly finished build.

She is nearly as long as a S Boat ( E boat) but wider.

I will probably do the molds next week.

SS Green Island

Here is the latest steam ship I finished . It is the loaded version of the SS Bellota.

Here are all the ships i did recently for Cruel Seas , by Warlord Games, together with a trawler and a Fairmile D ( both from Warlord)

Next will be a coastal collier, used in the east coast convoys, and a liner, wich could be used as a troop ship.

HMS Brocklesby

HMS Brocklesby was a Type II Hunt-class destroyer of the Royal Navy. She served during the Second World War, spending much of the time in the English Channel and Mediterranean, taking part in the Dieppe Raid in 1942, and the Allied landings in Sicily and at Salerno in 1943. After the war, she was used as a sonar trials ship until 1963, and was sold for scrap in 1968. More about the ship here .

Here is the model I made of her in a typical coastal camouflage pattern:

IMG_0137

The model is completely scratch build by me . Only the AA weapons and the crew figures are not. Weapons and crew from Heroic and Ros.
